Eventrites is a Nigerian event vendor portal that allows event planners find the right vendor for events and lets vendors adequately display their services and information in order to be found.
Challenges of previous solution and the task
The task was an overall redesign. However, the following challenges were observed after some more user interviews, guerrilla usability testing and further critique.
- The site does not properly appeal to target users
- Goal of website is not clear
- Call to action not visible for major actions –
- Not enough information displayed about vendors
- Bad Visual Design
The product redesign went through several iterations and the client was heavily involved. The entire process took 5 month and involved the creation of personas, user flows, sketches, High level wireframes, HTML/CSS prototype with Responsive design to cater for mobile users. These will be further explained below
After I got the contract, I had several meetings with the client to discuss the goal of the Website. We agreed that the goal of the website is two fold
- Provide a delightful tool that allows people planning events find a range of vendors with adequate information so they can make an informed decision and also contact vendors.
- Facilitate vendor registration and let them easily provide needed information to increase their business visibility
Personas and user flows
Based on the goals, we worked with 2 major personas – The event planner and the event vendor
Sketches and wireframes
Having determined the flows indicated above – The following sketches and wireframes were created and went through several iterations before final solution was built
HTML and CSS prototype and Mobile experience
The HTML and CSS prototype was created as the final delivery. I ensured it was responsive and caters to users anywhere and on any platform.
I ensured the right users were targeted with the right call to action and copy. For example – The event planners can immediately see what the site does and also search as soon as they land on the home page. I provided the right call to actions at several points in the homepage
I ensured the vendor can add and edit all the right information and also displayed this information to the user in a consistent way. I made other decisions like using the right and direct language and using catchy colours to direct users.
The Product looks delightful and allows the users to find the information they need and achieve their goals easily.
