PrimePayroll is a cloud based Payroll and HR system built for small and medium enterprises in Nigeria
I joined PrimePayroll pre initial launch as the product Manager to help manage the product and build the team. During my time as the Product Manager in what I’ll call a start-up environment, I was able to do the following:
I did a lot of Research and Analysis to aid informed decision making and strategy development as regards the product, users, target market, competitors and the industry. Developing personas and user stories, interviewing customers, gathering requirements
Design and User Experience
As part of a small team, I was heavily involved in the User Experience Design on PrimePayroll.
Some UX Challenges observed
- Multiple pain points in several journeys leading to Users abandoning the process i.e Set up
- Lack of error prevention
- Lack of user guidelines or help during usage
- Difficult Site and Data Navigation
- Technical Language
Based on Feedback from discoveries, we created a version 2 of the product to combact User experience and onboarding challenges observed – I created process flows and wireframes for new design, improvements and features to create better experience for users
The solution was a product that looks good with more relatable and familiar language as well as improved and better guided sign up process.
The solution also featured hamburger menu for more screen space during data manipulation and Sticky tables for more convenient data management.
As a result of the redesign work – Users can now easily use and are delighted by old, improved and new features of PrimePayroll
Build (Help Build)
I worked closely with the development team using agile processes (Jira for tracking) to ensure continual product development. I was also heavily involved in Quality Assurance testing and setting up the help center with wordpress. We were able to launch several new features priortised based on user needs
As the Product Manager, I developed our go-to-market strategy I was able to build a small team of sales/support staff and adequately train them. I managed digital marketing which aided brand awareness and helped gain a lot of users, facilitated strategic partnerships and also handled content management.
I consistently tested the product, measured usage via product reports and google analytics, tracked campaigns. I reported directly to company directors and iterated as needed based on findings
